Gratitude with Eyes Wide Open

Kid President has some beautiful words to inspire us this week.

Practicing Gratitude Is Not about Ignoring the Bad

Don’t be afraid of the bad. The sad. The hurt.
I’m sorry. I don’t want to tell you how to feel.
Be afraid if you must.
But don’t close your eyes.
Look at the bad. The sad. The hurt.
Look deeper.
Be open to what you might find in those depths.
If there is any chance of finding gratitude.
Real gratitude.
Authentic gratitude.
Your truth.
When you are sad, afraid and hurting.
It is there in those depths.
Give it a try. Be open to the possibility.
Of gratitude.
Of pain.
Of being fully alive.
Honoring your humanity.

quoteSad isn’t bad it helps you know what you care about.
~Robby Novak, Kid President

It’s not right on the surface but what gratitude are you able to see when you look deeper?

FORGOTTEN GRATITUDE: Last week I was also grateful for having a reliable car that is good on gas … Being so connected with my love that we think of each other at the same time even when we are not in the same town … Dinner with my mom, one on one.
