There Are No Words

{Gasp}

Sometimes gratitude fills you. Completely. So full that your heart just seems to expand more and more and more. And your skin can't possibly hold it all in.

Those moments of gratitude are so big that everything else slips away. And we are fully enveloped in the blessing in front of us.

Years ago I was exploring where I feel certain feelings in my body. I discovered that the feeling of gratitude was in my throat. Literally feeling choked up. In those moments I can't articulate my gratitude I am just feeling it completely. Words escape me.

I felt that this summer when I looked over the edge of the Gorge outside of Taos. I felt so insignificant but also connected with nature. I felt that again this week when I came face to face with the mortality of a loved one. When I realized that she wasn't going to die I was overwhelmed with gratitude and joy. Speechless with emotion.

In both of these moments I didn't express gratitude in words but I did express it in my throat, a gasp and deep breaths, then eventually in a huge smile.

Think back to a time that you felt overcome with gratitude. Where did you feel it in your body? In what ways were you able to express it?

Sometimes there are just no words to descibe the gratitude you feel. In what ways can you can express gratitude without saying a word?
