My Gratitude Experience Last Week

zoomGratitude is rarely the only option, there are always hassles to focus on. I experienced this on Sunday when my back ached from laying around reading most the day on Saturday. This was the very thing I was grateful for one day and the next I was complaining about it, and so was my back. I caught myself in the act of complaining and cut myself off with a laugh. Yes, my back hurt but it hurt from doing something that brought me a lot of joy. In addition to being grateful for having time to read I am also grateful for the reminder my body gave me to take care of it by adjusting my position, stretching, and taking breaks, even from relaxing.

Forgotten Gratitude

extraLast week I was also grateful for being able to take some time in the middle of the day to visit with friends, being spontaneous … My new printer that works through wireless, allows us to print from our phones, does duplex so I can conserve paper … Chocolates that I can eat without worrying … A new (to me) TV series obsession.

The Gratitude I Shared Last Week

[su_table]

Sun 12/28/2014 I’m grateful for impromptu donuts and healthy food shopping too … I’m grateful for having so much acceptance in my life … I’m grateful for a generous and loving back rub … I’m grateful for a fun birthday call with Emilio, it made me so happy … I’m grateful for easing back in to work today and feeling hopeful that I can hit the ground running tomorrow.
Sat 12/27/2014 I’m grateful for Lita and Jazz, full of energy, back to themselves … Eva, lady brunching, specialty treats just for me, long hugs … Lazy reading-all-day Saturday, with lots of dozing off.
Fri 12/26/2014 I’m grateful for being transported to a different state of mind with drumming, blowing snow, brave focused children and shared home and shared table generosity … My new instrument, deep and rumbly … Not having to worry about Surplus … Nicole’s generosity to strangers.
Thu 12/25/2014 I’m grateful for the best chocolate ever hand-made from cacao, rich, delicious, beautiful … My family, her family, Christmas traditions, posole, tamales, giving, receiving, generosity, love … Cheese I can eat, so delicious … I am so blessed and the small things that I have to complain about are like tiny pebbles in a sea of blessings.
Wed 12/24/2014 I’m grateful for laughing at silly Christmas songs and light displays … A honey dipper, I was so excited to see and receive … Holding Finn and smelling his sweet little two-month old head … Reconnecting with Cole. Right now I’m listening to the new Beck record spinning on the turntable, luminarias flicker outside, her sweater fits perfectly and my heart is full.
Tue 12/23/2014 This morning I wrote morning pages for the first time in a long long while, it felt great and I hope to build a habit out of it. I’m grateful for this practice and the calming and grounding affect it has on me. I’m grateful for one-on-one time with Bird, talking, eating yummy Vietnamese food, shopping. Earlier I was grateful for having time to rest when my headache began. Thank you Nicole for the delicious dinner and dessert, you are so generous and sweet.
Mon 12/22/2014 I’m grateful for close cuddles … Perfect red chile … A near perfect take … Writing inspiration right when I needed it, this is such a blessing.
