Oceans of Energy

What causes are you devoting your energy to?

I spent a good part of the day today feeling sorry for myself, worrying and feeling down. Then I started working on this week’s ecard. My energy came in a rush as I immersed myself in an activity so positive and beautiful. I was focused and guided by my intention of gratitude, thinking of people who I am grateful for.

The first part of the day I was devoting my energy to coddling my bruised ego and it didn’t help me feel better. Then I devoted my energy to gratitude and creativity and felt so much better. Immersing myself in creativity helped me return to appreciation.

Sometimes I take for granted all the good I have in my life without even realizing it. Judging others, comparing myself to others, wanting things that I don’t have, trying to be right or regretting past behavior all of these are ways that I ignore my blessings and all the good in my life. What a wonderful reminder the quote below is. I can choose to free up oceans of energy to make a difference in the world.

What helps you return to appreciation for the good in your life?

My Gratitude Experience Last Week

zoomLast week I was also grateful for a wonderful date so natural that we didn’t even realize we were on a date until half way through the adventure … A fun new scarf that I haven’t taken off since I bought it … Learning lessons while surrounded by so much love and support.

Forgotten Gratitude

extraLast week was a testament to gratitude being a choice no matter what as well as gratitude being a constant companion through the journey of life. I had one day when I was exuberant when I posted gratitude and another when I begrudgingly posted and had to work through some muck to get to a grateful place. All in a week’s “work”!

The Gratitude I Shared Last Week

[su_table]

Sun 11/17/2014 I must admit I’m not really feeling it right now … It’s hard when I’m sad, questioning and discouraged. Tonight my favorite item I painstakingly knit for myself came unraveled in the wash and I’m embarrassed to say that I am deeply affected by what others think of me. I’m grateful that I can choose to look in the direction of love and support. I’m grateful for salty tears and salty kettle corn. I’m grateful for that feeling of giving gifts with an open heart and also the feeling of seeing my happy clients full of appreciation. Speaking of gifts I am so excited that I finished making some fun bracelets for a couple of friends. Thank you for being here, it means more than you know.
Sat 11/16/2014 I’m grateful for Nicole she is generous, loving, fun, and up for almost anything … I’m grateful that she has travel dreams and that she makes dreams happen … I’m grateful for a wonderful Saturday full of following our whims together.
Fri 11/15/2014 I’m grateful for a deep conversation at Barelas Coffee Shop while eating carne adovada, eggs and home fries … Watching our show on the projector and the surprise of two episodes when we were expecting one … Kettle on because I showed a hint of interest in afternoon tea … Finding the focus I needed to get my work done.
Thu 11/14/2014 I am so fucking grateful! For the surprise seeing my friend at my show … For my mom saying “wow” … For Nicole arriving just in time … For Emilio’s whoopie cushion delight … For a good first try at being interviewed for a podcast … For a brief reconnect with an old friend and my laugh making him smile … For feeling accomplished and talented and supported in all the work that I do and all that I create. Today was a good good day.
Wed 11/13/2014 I am grateful for shaving two minutes off my new song … The warmth of a comfy scarf and my hand-knit socks on this first day of real cold … A tasty simple dessert and even more uses of fluff … Finally moving to a new personal email provider … and I am grateful for excited gratitude sharing by my sister with these great images.
Tue 11/11/2014 I’m grateful for all my favorite sweaters fresh from the dry cleaners … I’m grateful for a fully lit kitchen … I’m grateful for talking, taking action and splitting up the tasks.
Mon 11/10/2014 I’m grateful for releasing my tether to facebook, it feels so liberating … I’m grateful for not having to drive and being able to rest my eyes and even doze a bit … I’m grateful for learning about myself as I write. Earlier today I fell into an old pattern with song writing only to find that it no longer fit, that is not who I am anymore. It was like putting on a once perfectly worn in pair of shoes only to find that they are now stiff and the creases pinch with every step. I’m grateful to have grown and to get further proof of my growth.
