Reflecting With Gratitude

It’s so easy to look back and say last year was a shit year. But there was good in our lives too. Let’s raise that up.

Documenting Our Highlight Reel

Debra shared this inspiring quote in Our Gratitude Collective the other day:

“The reason we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind-the-scenes with everyone else’s highlight reel.” ~Steve Furtick

I love this. How true it is. But also I have noticed that so many of us have been so quick to say that 2017 was the worst year or terrible or so hard, etc. While there is truth there, and I speak from my own personal experience of the year, there was also successes and just all-around good things that happened too.

So, let's reflect on last year and document our highlights. I highly recommend writing down your responses instead of just thinking about them.

1. What is something you are grateful you said yes to last year?

2. What are you grateful you learned about yourself last year?

3. What is one thing you are grateful you accomplished last year? Who helped you?

4. Think of something last year that you were not grateful for. What does this tell you about what is important to you? What are you grateful for about this realization?

5. Think of your significant other. What is one specific thing you are grateful for about them? If you do not have a significant other, what are you grateful for about a good friend of yours?

6. What opportunity are you grateful you had last year?

7. What risk are you grateful you took last year?

8. What are you grateful for that came into your life last year because of your hard work?

9. What gratitude can you find in a difficult experience you had last year?

10. What is one thing you experienced last year that filled you with energy and joy?

Awesome! Now what will you do to celebrate all the good you found from 2017?

Reflect on the past year. What are some of the highlights you’d like to celebrate?
