Practicing Gratitude Without Attachment

Grateful for nothing in particular and everything all at once.

Searching For Something That is There

I sat down last night to write down the three things I was grateful for. Doing a mental inventory of my day searching for things I appreciated. Last night was one of the easy days. I was grateful for this and that and the other thing and even that one other experience. But what about all the things in between? The things I didn't include in my list? What about all of the breaths I took? What about all the other things that happened in my day. In my body. In my world of privilege?

For a change let's just think about the experience of gratitude. What does it feel like? What does it feel like when it is not attached to the one thing or three things we say were grateful for? What does it feel like to be grateful for nothing in particular? What does it feel like to be simultaneously grateful for every single thing?

Wishing you the experience of gratitude unattached to words, unattached to experiences, unattached to things, unattached to people. Just for today let us be grateful and let that be enough.

quoteSo take a chance and openly give thanks, even if you’re not sure what for, and feel the plentitude of all that is living brush up against your heart.
