Blessed with Each Bite


Thank you, fish. Thank you, basil. Thank you, tomato.

Food Appreciation

The freshly caught fish from the mountain stream tasted so good. I said aloud, “thank you”. How often do we thank our food? Each meal. Each bite. It is giving us a gift. The gift of life.

When I thanked that fish I thought of the ice cold stream it was swimming in. The stream that was fed by snow and rain. It reminded me of the quote below. So often one thank you can grow into another, especially when it comes from food. So much goes into our food; sun, soil, water, life.

So let’s say thank you again and again. For each bite. For each meal. For food grown in our gardens. For food lining the store shelves. All food is deserving of our appreciation.

Let’s say thank you for all the hands that worked to bring the food to us. For mother earth who nurtured this food into existence. With gratitude we get in touch with our food, with each other and with our bodies. Thank you.
