The Difference Between Hope and Faith

Her Words Reminded Me That It Was True for Me

I have been grieving and in this difficult time I have been telling myself, “Everything is going to be OK.” and “It will all work out.” Those are nice and encouraging things to say to myself. But last night I was listening to an interview with Melodie Beattie and she said something that stopped me in my tracks. It is the quote that is there down below. Go ahead and read it. Isn’t that great?

Her words reminded me that yes, I am right where I need to be today. And then it hit me. This is what my gratitude practice does. It is a practice of taking inventory of all that is right and good and OK and appreciated today. In what ways does your gratitude help you know that you are right where you need to be today?

Now, I am telling myself, “Everything is OK.” “I am right where I need to be.” Because it is true. And my gratitude helps me to practice that truth.
